Vehicle Guide Premium Rental Cars

A premium car (if offered) is usually a step down from the luxury car class category. They will have 4 doors.

Some Examples

Some common makes and models that may be offered for a premium rental car category include

Nissan Maxima

Mercury Grand Marquis

Buick Lucerne

Seating Capacity

The seating capacity of a premium car is usually 5, but some specific makes/models may offer 6 seat belts in the vehicle.

When you see two options for seating capacity, it means that the car rental company has both options in that category. You are guaranteed 5 passenger seating. Whether or not you get 6 passenger seating would depend on what make/model you get at the rental counter.

Average Luggage Capacity

The average luggage capacity listed for a premium rental car is

3 Large 2 Medium 3 Small - pieces of luggage

Luggage capacity will of course depend on the type and size of the items you will put in the trunk.

Usual Features

Some common standard features that will be included in a premium car rental include

AM/FM stereo/Cassette

CD Player

Air Conditioning

Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Windows, Power Locks

Anti-Lock Brakes

Air Bags

Cruise Control

Intermittent Wipers

Tilt Steering Wheel

Average Fuel Economy

25 mpg – highway

Note: In general categories, companies can rarely guarantee a make or model. That’s why you’ll usually see a make/model example with a notation of …or similar. That means you will get either that vehicle or something of similar size and with similar features.

Premium car categories are not offered by every rental company... some may only offer luxury cars and the other standard categories (compact, mid, full, SUVs, Vans, etc).
