The first tip is to look for car rental specials that are advertised by the car rental companies. Quite often there will be a list of specials right on the car rental site's homepage or you can also look for a tab for special offers or deals.

When you're looking to get the cheap weekly car rentals, you'll want to do some research to make sure that that special or deal will work with the your particular rental requirements.

Some weekly car rental specials are location specific. The offer may only be available at an airport car rental, some only at off airport or neighborhood locations. Many weekly specials will only be available in certain cities or at participating locations in certain states.

Make sure to verify exactly what is required to qualify for a weekly rate for that particular car rental company. As a general rule, a weekly car rental will require a 5 day minimum and usually must include a Saturday night overstay.

Keep in mind that with most deals on weekly car rentals, the value may only apply to the first week. For example, if you see a special that advertised $35 off a weekly rental and you want to rent a car for 2 weeks, the $35 will only come off once, not for each week. Many types of deals will only be offerred on certain size or classes of vehicles. Make sure that your vehicle preference is included.

Lastly, make sure to carefully read all terms and conditions listed with any specials that you're looking to book. Look for any blackout dates, advanced booking requirements and the expiration date. Make sure to check if the expiration date is the date that the rental must be picked up by, or if it is the date by which the vehicle must be returned.
