Finding Hybrid Rental Cars

Hybrid rental cars are becoming more popular; with concern for the environment in the minds of many and the high price of gas being a common concern, more and more travelers are looking at a hybrid car rental as an option.

Availability of hybrid car rental is limited and they are not found at all car rental companies.

The prices of hybrid rental cars tend to be quite a bit higher than a regular rental car of the same size.
I went checking for availability at 8 large car rental companies. This is what I found.


Avis Hybrid Rentals



Avis.com (opens in a new window) carries hybrids at select locations. They are listed in the specialty category, and their most predominant make and model is the Toyota Prius.

Holds 1 large, 3 small suitcases
Average gas mileage - 36-56 mpg

Avis is unable to guarantee a specific make/model. For Specialty Cars, some makes and models can be reserved online where available, but may vary by location.
As with any rental car, price varies by availability and location.
