How I built this site and started living my dream!

I used to joke that when my son started school, my dream job would be a stay-at-home-mom. Well, that dream has come true!

As I’ve talked about on About Us , I worked as a car rental reservation for over 8 years. I was tired of working shift work and just wished that I could afford to stay home. I researched quite a few at home businesses, but was always leery of any kind of “get rich quick” scheme. In May of 2008, I quit my job, but still wanted to do something to earn some money to help replace the income that I lost.

My husband, Jerry, was convinced that there should be something I could do on the internet. He bought a program called Site Build It, and told me to start a business by building a website! The fact that I had no clue how to build a website did not seem to bother him at all!

I started to read through the information for Site Build It, and I began to get excited. It offered everything I needed to get started and, thank goodness, I didn't even have to have any technical knowledge (good thing, because I had none)!

While I was reading about Site Sell & Site Build It (SBI) , I was especially interested in the information for making and running a successful business from home.

At this point, although I had no idea what the site would be about, I started to think, Hey, I can do this!

I was particularly inspired by stories about other people who had built successful businesses from their websites. I felt I had a choice to do a website about one of two things… something that I loved or something that I knew. Although I love many things, Jerry suggested that I take the knowledge that I’d gained from my work experience and put it to use to help people who are looking to rent a car. The goal of this site is for visitors to get great advice and tips on getting the best price on your next car rental. They can browse our list of car rental discount codes and check out information on car rental policies, one-way car rentals, car rental insurance and more. I wanted to share what I know.

This site is now almost 2 years old, and I’m getting lots of new visitors every day. I'm thrilled to still be a "stay at home" mom to my teenage son... and am now earning more money than I was working fulltime.

The best part is… you can do this too!

You could talk about your hobbies (i.e. gardening, art, music, crafts, etc.) or you could talk about something you are passionate about (i.e. animals, fitness, nutrition, parenting, etc.) or you could even talk about your professional career. The opportunities are endless!

I think that we are all experts on something, or have a passion about something.

If you’d like to take that expertise and passion and turn it into a successful business, I encourage you to turn your passion into profit!
