Car Rental Smoking Policy

I've received a few emails requesting information about car rental smoking policy, so I did some research. This is information directly from the car rental company websites.

Please note, that as with all policies, I try to stay up to date.. but that these can change at any time with no notice!

Alamo

All vehicles are considered non-smoking cars. Additional cleaning fees may apply if a vehicle is returned in a condition where it needs to be extensively cleaned and deodorized due to smoking.

Avis Car Rental Smoking Policy

As of October 1, 2009, all vehicles in our U.S. fleet are designated as non-smoking cars. A Cleaning Fee of up to $250 may be applied to the cost of a rental, should this policy be violated.

Budget Car Renal Smoking Policy

Budget maintains a smoke-free fleet , and any type of smoking (pipe, cigarette, cigar) is prohibited in all Budget vehicles. Just as renters are accessed a fee for cleaning the car's interior for excessive stains, dirt or soilage attributable to the renter’s use, customers will be assessed an additional charge if the car smells of smoke when it is returned.

no information on their website.... you would have to contact potential location directly to determine their policy or you can try calling a reservation agent at 1-800-800-3665 to see if there is a specific smoking policy for the city/location that you want to rent from.

Enterprise

Hertz

Question Do you offer cars that are designated as "Smoking Cars"? Answer Yes, however they cannot be guaranteed at the time of booking and are subject to availability upon arrival at the location.

Note: They did not mention here, nor could I find out if there is a extra charge or cleaning fee associated with renting a smoking vehicle. That is usually location specific and you would have to contact a Hertz location where you want to rent from or you can try calling 1-800-654-3131 to see if the reservation agent has location specific policy information regarding smoking policy.

National
